Fees and breakdown

All Payments towards Student Residence fees are made through the Student Residence Portal or in person at Cedar Centre

Visit the Student Residence Portal to view your Residence Fees under the My Fees tab. Within the My Fees tab you are able to view and pay for your Residence Fees. We take Visa, Visa Debit, Mastercard, and Mastercard Debit, both in person and on the Portal. 

We do NOT take cash, wire transfer, e-transfer or internet banking bill payments for your Residence Fees.

$210 late payment fee - All payments are due by 12am on the specified payment date or late payment fee will be applied.

$500 Room Confirmation Fee, also the first payment towards your rent - (Non-Refundable)

$30 Per Day Term Extension, Early Move In, or Late Move Out. To move in early or move out late, you need to make a formal request to VIU residence. 


Additional Services to Consider!

Residence Welcome, this is an exciting opportunity for students to make new connections with their peers and Residence Life Staff. For more information check out Onboarding Welcome Week.

  • $280 + tax Linen Package, this includes: 1 Foam Pillow, 2 Pillow Slips, 2 Flat Sheets, 2 Fitted Sheets, 1 Bathmat, 2 Bath Towels, 2 Hand Towels, 2 Face Clothes, and 1 Fiber Fill Comforter. 

Dining Plan with VIU Food Services

A dining plan is a great way to make sure you have a budget dedicated to your food while you're with us. As long as you have your student card, you can purchase food from most areas on campus.

Students in all room styles have the option of accessing the VIU Food Services Dining Plan. A plan can be purchased for a semester, or for the full academic year. You have the option to choose between the Medium, and Full Appetite plans, depending on your needs.


Important Notes

  • Residence fees vary by Residence area and room type. All fees are subject to the terms and conditions outlined in the Student Residence Agreement. Rates may be subject to change without notice.

  • Failure to pay any residence fees by any posted or emailed deadline will result in the forfeiture of your room assignment.

  • All residence fees do not include early move-in, early move out, or Orientation programs.

  • Charges will continue until all assigned keys are returned to the Front Desk. All cancellations or early-move outs will be subject to the cancellation charges outlined in the Student Residence Agreement.
